Overland’s Neilma Sidney Short Story Prize seeks outstanding original short fiction that is loosely themed around the notion of ‘travel’. This year, the judges (Patrick Lenton, Alice Bishop and Sara Saleh) have chosen a winner and two runners-up for their work, to be published in Overland’s autumn 2024 edition.
In the US, the Irving Oberman Memorial Awards are bestowed by the Law School through a bequest from the estate of Irving B. Oberman, a former Dean of the University of Chicago. The prizes are offered for papers on any of the seven current areas of law: Bankruptcy; Constitutional Law and Equal Justice Under the Law; Criminal Law; Family Law; Labor Law; Legal History; and Technology and the Law.
The winner of the Sydney Prize will be announced at the prize ceremony in November, and all finalists will be published online. Each entry will be reviewed by the panel of experts, and a final decision will be made by the prize judge. All winning entries must be a minimum of 3,000 words long, and must not have been previously published. Entrants will be asked to provide contact details and a copy of their entry for verification.
