If the player’s or banker’s hands win, the bettors receive a payout of 1:1. If the Banker hand wins, the bettors must pay a 5% commission to the house. A tie bet pays 8:1 but is a risky proposition, as the house has an edge over both the player and the banker.
There are a few other side bets you can place in baccarat, but these wagers vary by platform and establishment. The most common is the banker pair, which wagers that the banker and player will both receive a pair of identical cards on the deal. The player pair is another common bet, and pays 11:1 odds. A tie bet, which is available at some online casinos and physical gambling establishments, offers higher odds but still has a house edge over 4%, so we do not recommend it.
